Oh it was so nice to sleep in! I found out that our hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, but I guess in a place that is 65 degrees high in mid July, that’s not really that important. We woke up and ate the delicious breakfast offered at the hotel.
We got on a bus and went to the Kilmainham Gaol (jail) and did a tour which included a lot of history not only about the prison but also about Ireland. It was very cool and I highly recommend it as a must to people who come to Dublin.
Then we took a short bus ride over to the Guinness Storehouse..YAY! But sadly I think that was more of a let down. You walk the floors of the place where they used to brew the Guinness and learn all about it. Then you also get to either learn to pour the perfect pint or go up to the Gravity Bar and get an almost 360 degree view of Dublin. We chose the Gravity bar. Very cool.
We went to the Christ Church to check out the crypt, but it was a serious disappointment to me. While down there we found another American who suggested we go over to St Michah’s Church, but it wasn’t open today. Supposedly they have the best crypts so if you are ever here, check it out and shake hands with a Crusader! Remember, they are only open in the mornings on Saturdays and not on Sundays, open Monday through Friday though.
Dinner was at a great restaurant called Gogerty’s in the Temple Bar area. I HIGHLY recommend it. Great food (I had the Irish Stew and it was to die for!) and good music. It was a really nice atmosphere. Now it’s 1am here and you all are probably sitting down to dinner so I’m going to go to sleep. Another long and fun day tomorrow! Hopefully I’ll have some more time to write to you!
