Last weekend Danny and I made the 3 hour drive North to go to the “House of the Mouse”. As you may have realized from some of my previous blogs, I am a huge Walt Disney World fan. It was a very happy coincidence that we happened to be there for the celebration of the Magic Kingdom’s 40th anniversary.
The day started bright and early with a parade! We watched what seemed like all of the characters that Disney made famous dancing and marching down Main Street towards the castle. The energy was amazing!
Some popular items that were rolled out for the 40th Anniversary only were the retro park maps, 40th Anniversary buttons, awesome cupcakes sold in the Bakery (the line for these was huge!), and collector’s pins. The special events were the parade in the morning ending with an address by the president of Walt Disney World and Vice President of the Magic Kingdom, a double dose of the famous Electric Light Parade, and a special fireworks display during the evening’s Wishes.
Though the crowds were crazy and the lines were extreme, I am really excited to see what Disney does in 10 more years to celebrate the 50th!
