It’s January 2nd, 2015. The first work day of the year. What an amazing and crazy last year was. My year started with the birth of my son, David. And then the year was over… just kidding 🙂 But it really was a whirlwind of a year. I know that I didn’t really post a whole lot throughout the year, but I am hopeful that 2015 will be better for my blog! Here are some of my travel and agency related highlights of the year.
January brought the birth of David. He quickly took over our lives and sleep went out the window. I enjoyed a few weeks at home with him before returning to work. David has come to work with me almost every day since he was born and it has been so much fun to watch him grow up with all of his “work aunties”.
March was our first family trip to Disney. We stayed in a two bedroom villa right near Disney property. Not a luxury place, but perfect for our needs. We even found ourselves bathing David in the kitchen sink more than once! Traveling to Disney with a 2 month old was an adventure. Dan and I took a little while to get in a groove, but in the end, it was a weekend filled with laughter and memories. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
May brought us back to Disney with friends and their baby. We stayed at Reunion Resort just a few exits away from Disney. They have a great water park for days you don’t want to go to the parks. Since David was a little older, it was in some ways much easier to travel with him. We had also already experienced it so we knew what to expect.
June I took my first trip without the boys of the year. I won an award called Pacesetter for my work the year before. The award ceremony was in Istanbul and so I packed up and left the boys in the care of my sister-in-law. Istanbul was incredible. We didn’t have a lot of time to explore, but the Blue Mosque was beautiful and Topkapi Palace was great! We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and there is nothing but amazing things to say about that hotel.
July was the first big trip. We took David on an airplane to the Pocono Mountains to my grandparents’ house. I learned a lot about flying with a baby that week. Luckily, we got a good one. He actually slept on the plane for most of the flight with no issues. The trip itself was great! We got to take him to some of our favorite places and made a lot of memories together.
October was another excursion to Disney! This time we went to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween. David was dressed up as Winnie the Pooh and he was the CUTEST baby ever! We also enjoyed Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT. That is still a personal favorite (of course now that everyone knows about it, the lines are crazy!).
November we left the kid at home with my parents and we went on the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas on an early anniversary trip. I have been on the large ships before and my opinion was the same. They are fantastic. There is so much to experience and so it is nearly impossible to get bored on the ship. One of our favorite new experiences was the Solarium Bistro. The food was superb and the ambiance was perfect!
Also in November I left the boys at home again and previewed the Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas. Another masterpiece by Royal Caribbean. So much to love! The dining options were amazing. I went skydiving in a wind tunnel!!! Totally awesome 🙂 Then the boys flew up to meet me in New York and we enjoyed a weekend stay at the Waldorf Astoria Towers. What an amazing property 🙂 I had a Waldorf salad from the place where it was created. Delish!
December. What a whirlwind December has been. This time we got in a car and DROVE to our destination. We drove from South Florida to Rhode Island to spend Christmas with Dan’s family. That was the longest drive ever! I was so happy we made it, but so happy to b home at the need too.
Wow what a year that was!!! I can’t believe how fast it all went by! I’d love to hear about your year as well!!! What did you do that stood out the most to you?
