I woke up yesterday and it was 65 degrees in Franklin, MA. We went to our car, started the car, and backed it out of the snow pile that we were parked in! Snow and 65 degrees just doesn’t feel right to me! Imagine the amount of snow that must have been there before the weather started to change! As a Florida girl… wow! But that isn’t entirely what I wanted to write about today.
Often when I write blogs about my travel, you are hearing about my awesome trips to Europe and Disney and other more exotic type places. Today I’m going to write to you about something a little closer to home. This past weekend Dan and I went to Rhode Island for a wedding. We ran in to an issue that it was still Passover when we were traveling and so we needed to have a kitchen so we weren’t breaking Passover until it was time. We chose Residence Inn by Marriott because it is more of an extended stay type property. It’s a hotel with full hotel amenities, but also has a kitchenette or full kitchen in each room. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived, but was very impressed by the room. Everyone was SUPER sweet there. Every person greeted us as we passed. When I needed extra towels, the man who delivered them couldn’t apologize often enough for taking a few extra minutes. No one said no, they all said let me see what I can do!
Amenities: indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, daily breakfast, manager’s reception, mini grocery store for necessities on site, ability for them to stock your fridge with certain items, free high speed internet (with an option for an upgraded connection at a fee), pet friendly (with a cleaning fee), and self-serve laundry.
Pros: great amenities, awesome staff (I would stay here 100 times because of the people), easy highway access
Cons: There is a train track nearby and during the week from 5am to midnight (based on when we heard the train) the train goes approximately every half hour. On the weekends we noticed it starting at 7am to midnight.
This is not a 5 star property, but a very comfortable 3.5-4 star property. While not luxurious, it is definitely comfortable for your travel needs. Below are some of the pictures that I took.
