Disney for Adults!

Though widely regarded as a place for kids, however Walt Disney World has plenty up its sleeve for adults. The trick is figuring out how both adults and kids can maximize their fun at the same time. So, whether you’re taking your own kids to meet Mickey, or trying to stay sane on a family vacation with your sister’s toddlers, use this guide to ensure everyone gets the most out of their trip.

One of the most important decisions is where you will stay! There are so many hotel options on Disney property as well as in the surrounding area. A couple of the on-property adult favorites are Disney’s Beach Club and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney’s Beach Club is great for everyone in the family, which makes it a top place for adults. You are steps away from Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Boardwalk plus the pool is incredible! The pool features include a shipwreck with a slide, 3 huge pools, a lazy river, and 3 whirlpool spas, so needless to say you will definitely have a great pool day at this resort.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is my personal favorite. This is a hotel like no other! There are so many fascinating parts of this hotel including the unique in-room experience you definitely won’t forget. From your room you can gaze over the safari and locate over 30 species of exotic animals! Here you will also find the award-winning dining options such as Jiko-The Cooking Place, which is a traditional African dining experience with some delicious menu options.

Now, let’s talk about the theme parks. In Walt Disney World, there are 4 attraction parks (Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom)  and 2 water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon). Here are some tips and tricks for adults who are looking to explore the parks without children. First, I must say that the top theme park for adults is Epcot and here is the one major reason: alcohol. Yes, that’s right, you can drink around the world in Epcot!

Let me explain- Epcot has what’s called the World Showcase that is comprised of 11 countries. Each country has their own unique features with Disney cast members that are actually from the countries they are working in, which just adds a magical touch to the whole experience. When you travel through the countries you really feel as though you are immersed in the different cultures.

Every year, around the Fall, Epcot hosts the International Food and Wine Festival, and let me tell you, it is my favorite time of the year! This festival features over 30 unique kiosks that represent countries or regions from around the world. Each kiosk has their own menu with special tastings paired with beverages (some alcoholic and some not). The portions are pretty small, which gives you the ability to try things from several kiosks, or if you’re brave ALL of the kiosks.

Insider tip if you are planning on drinking alcoholic beverages around the world start in Mexico (with margaritas) and work your way to the English Pub to end your journey with a refreshing Black and Tan.

Another fantastic park for adults is Animal Kingdom due to all the fascinating sites and unique rides this park has to offer. Animal Kingdom’s newest edition is Pandora- The World of Avatar in which they transformed an entire section of the park into Pandora, and trust me when I say it REALLY feels like you are on Pandora. There are two new rides- Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Avatar Flight of Passage is not my all time favorite ride- I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s just say you really feel as if you are riding a banshee, and the Na’vi River Journey is a beautiful visual voyage through Pandora at night. On top of all of the amazing new features in Pandora, Animal Kingdom has the ever so thrilling roller coaster- Expedition Everest that will leave you wanting to go on it over and over until you physically can’t go on again.

There are so many great activities in all the parks, so no matter where you end up you will have a magical time! If you need help planning your Disney vacation, Boca Express Travel is an authorized Disney Travel Agency with an in-house Disney Insider Expert.
